What's Next for A.J. Brown? Breaking Down the Trade Rumors

The elephant in the room is impossible to ignore: A.J. Brown appears to be on his way out of Philadelphia.

According to multiple reports, the Eagles and New England Patriots have discussed a deal for the star receiver, though neither side is willing to commit until after June 1. The reason? Brown's $40 million salary cap charge would be split between this year and next if traded after that date.

The Writing on the Wall

The Eagles' offseason moves tell the story. They've added Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, Elijah Moore, and now first-round pick Makai Lemon. That's a lot of receiver depth for a team planning to keep their number one target.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero wrote it plainly: "They've now added [multiple receivers], in the latest sign that A.J. Brown has probably played his last down for Philly."

Roseman's Non-Denial

When asked about Brown's future, GM Howie Roseman gave a carefully worded response: "AJ is a member of the Eagles. We don't have trades that have been made or that are done. We're taking this one day at a time."

Notice what he didn't say: that Brown will be on the roster come September.

What Would the Eagles Get Back?

If the Patriots deal goes through, expect Philadelphia to receive significant draft capital in return. Brown is still one of the best receivers in football, and the Eagles won't give him away.

It's a developing story, Bird Gang. Stay tuned.
