How the Eagles Transformed Their Secondary in Two Offseasons

Remember when the Eagles' secondary was a weakness? Those days are over. Philadelphia now boasts one of the youngest and most talented defensive backfields in the NFL.

The Cornerback Revolution

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean were the stars of the 2025 rookie class, and both are now entering year two with starting experience under their belts.

Add in Riq Woolen (6'4" with elite ball skills) and Kelee Ringo (former Georgia standout), and the Eagles have four corners who could start on most NFL teams.

Safety Depth

Marcus Epps provides veteran leadership, while Andrew Mukuba showed flashes as a rookie. The combination of experience and youth gives the Eagles flexibility in their defensive packages.

What Changed

Two years ago, the Eagles were desperately searching for corner help. Now they have the luxury of rotating fresh legs and matching up physically with any receiver group in the league.

The secondary is no longer a liability. It might be a strength.
